Bonjour, je m'appelle Samanthia Dommage. In other words, hello, my name is Samanthia Dommage. As you can see, I am French. I am the newest member to the school board. They brought me in from France to bring more order to education. These days, teachers are out of control. They are doing all these practices that may or may not work. That is no way to be teaching. This is why test scores have dropped so significantly. I am a strong believer in standardized testing. We need to get back to the more essentialist ways of teaching. The teacher needs to be the central authority in the classroom. I want to see more teacher-centered classrooms. I believe this is the most successful way of teaching and the only successful way of teaching.

You might be thinking that I just came out of nowhere, but you thought wrong. I studied at one of the most prestigious schools in France,
Université de Nice Sophia Antipolis. Converting schools back to the traditional ways of teaching has become my lifetime goal. I was very successful all over France, but now it is time I work my magic here in the United States of America.

All of you theorists need to watch out for me. I was brought here to bring down all your theories and ideas. I will be raising questions about the evidence. Do your theories even work? How do they work? Is there cold, hard evidence that your theories work? All I care about is the evidence. So, this is a warning that I will be coming for you.

Other than that, I am excited to work with all of you, and I am excited to share all my ideas and opinions on how education is supposed to be.

Ideas Related to Educational Psychology:

  1. Chapter Three: pg.72. How I feel about play/recess in school (Response to discussion in class)
There was a discussion about play and recess in class on February 6 in response to what I feel about play in schools, and I never got a chance to respond to all of your responses. Even though I took all of your ideas into consideration, I still believe that there should be no play or recess during the school day. Socialization skills and creativity were brought up, and while I believe those things are important, I believe that those socialization and creativity skills should be developed outside of school or after school (such as clubs, organizations, sports, etc.). There was also an idea brought up about having a nice break from learning and taking time to process what the students have learned. What about lunchtime? Lunchtime is a perfect time to get a break and also develop more socialization skills. No more free time is needed during the school day.
